The type of floss you use should also be shred resistant. If it begins to tear every time you use it, it may not be doing its job effectively. Single filament thread is typically better for this task. In addition, never use the same section of a thread between two areas. To accomplish this, you will always need to use at least 18 inches of thread per session to ensure that you are using a clean section between every tooth. A typical session should last 2 to 3 minutes and should consist of cleaning between every tooth and behind your back teeth.
